Still universally loved, Brian was voted 'The Nation's Favourite Big Brother Housemate Ever 'by the public in 2005 2007.' In 2010 Brian received the supreme accolade of being voted the fans No1 housemate in C4's last series "Ultimate Big Brother".
Brian would like to thank everyone for their unconditional support over the years, saying he has 'the most amazing and loyal fans in the world'.
Brian was one of the celebrities who took the time out tp appear on this year’s People in Need Telethon on RTÉ One . Brian was enrolled as one of the XFactor type judges to give his views on the singing prowess of ex Eurovision song contest winner Dana and Franc.
Brian was asked to be Mr Nasty but said he couldn’t be and gave them both glowing critiques. When asked if he would sing Brian flatly refused but his co-judge said that backstage Brian had said that if he was taking part he would have done “Don’t go breaking my heart” as his song choice.
Brian was a guest on the RTÉ Two show The Café. The show this week was co presented by bb8’s Ziggy Lichman. Brian brought along a treat for everyone some slices of chocolate torte made by Brian’s own expert hands, showing the skills he had acquired whilst in Hell’s Kitchen. They were proclaimed a success by everyone.
After chatting about his successful career since Big Brother 6 years ago, Brian was joined on the sofa by renowned Irish magician Keith Barry. Keith asked Brian for his help leaving Brian astounded when he produced a card signed by Brian that had been sat on the table folded and held by a paper clip. Keith invited Brian to join him on his Christmas Special show called Keith Barry the Escape Live. airing on ITV1 on the 29th December. You can watch clips of Brian on the show HERE
Brian was a guest on Pat Kenny’s Late Late Show along with Baryy McGuigan, they chatted about their time in Hell’s Kitchen, both singing each others praises. Brian also chatted about the possibility of him joining the cast on Irelan’s premiere soap Fair City. You can watch a 13 minute clip of Brian and Barry on the show HERE
Another packed show this week that saw Brian interview the two eliminated celebrities Emily and Tamara who said they had become great friends over their time in the circus and were now heading off together on a short holiday.
Brian then highlighted the ongoing rivalry between Kyal and Shane, chatting to them they said that they enjoined the competition as it made them both try harder.
It was then time for Brian once again to don the Lycra to attempt one of this weks disciplines. Wearing a fetching lilac and pink ensemble, Brian tried his hand at the ‘ Aerial Silks’ which according to the trainer were very difficult to master. Brian started the discipline in a ‘cocoon’, and progressed to doing some choreography, and then eventually he climbed up the silk.
Pyrotechnics was the ‘look backstage’ coverage for week 4. Brian asking how dangerous they were, Dave said there was always an element of danger with fire. Brian offered some advice with a code of practise from his airline days. If ever anyone had a problem and caught fire, they should “Drop ‘em, stop em, and roll em!” As he was leaving Brian asked if he could have some pyrotechnics on his show, but sadly all he was offered was a sparkler. Naughty Brian pressing a button on the console as he left the room had a very funny outcome - see photo!
Who would have ever dreamt that they would be seeing Brian recreating a scene from Casablanca in the Big Top, but that is exactly what we were treated to this week, when Brian took on the role of Rick Blaine to assist Lady Isabella put her latest acting lessons to the test. Filmed in black and white with the pair dressed the part they took it all quite seriously until reaching the immortal lines of “Here’s looking at you kid!” at which point they dissolved into laughter.
Interviews this week with Stacey, Emily, Kyal, and Luke, and Ritchie gave everyone the latest news on his injury.
Dressed in a revealing black, grey and silver sparkly top Brian this week attempted the cloud swing. After an initial hesitancy Brian got into the ‘swing’ of things and even managed to hang from the swing by just his knees.
The ‘backstage’ section this week featured the costume designer for Cirque de Celebrity, Venetia Ercolani. She explained how the designs for the celebrity costumes were decided each week and that they had used in excess of a million rhinestones already on the costumes. Brian was particularly looking forward to one costume she was making for him for a future week in a metallic Lycra in diamonds in a turquoise and gold with diamonds all around the sides.
On Sunday evening Hannah Waterman was the latest celebrity to leave the show and Brian had a final chat with her.
Saturday 27th October sees the Dowling family - Brian, sister Aoife, sister Paula, cousin Clare, and best friend Kris take on Kim Marsh’s (Corrie) family in the opening show of a new series of All Star Family Fortunes presented once again by Vernon Kay.
A new addition to this year's show is a visit to the homes of the families in the style of 'Through the Keyhole', with the viewers guessing whose house it is.
Surely only Brian when asked to "Name a type of bean?" Would answer "Les bean!". Video clip HERE
This will be the second time that the Dowling family have taken part in the show, as Brian and different members of his family recorded the never aired pilot show for the original series.
Good luck to Brian and his family! We hope they win a substantial amount of money for their charity.
