» Cirque- Backstage at the Big Top - Week 2. 18th October 2007

Week two and the second show in the series surpassed the first for entertainment and laughs. As the celebrity contestants get to know each other more, a close bond is forming within the group, and with Brian, the fun and camaraderie is shining through. So when told by Brian there would be a new discipline this week, ‘naked dancing’, Luke immediately obliged by stripping off his pants, and running out of the tent with his underwear around his ankles to the delight and laughter from Brian and Luke’s fellow contestants. Brian was in his element once again with a new glitzy silver and purple lycra ensemble to attempt the Aerial Hoop. Spinning and posturing in a very elegant fashion he had to give way to an ungainly descent due to feeling nauseous. He was also allowed to attempt the leaps and rolls preformed by the boys the previous Sunday evening to the delight of Brian and laughter from the boys who joined him.

An interview with the Sunday’s eliminated celebrity Dwain Chambers an in-depth chat with Hannah Waterman on how she progressing, glimpses of the training for this week’s disciplines and a behind-the-scenes chat with the show’s voice-over man, it was once again a fantastic fun packed show.

There is a two page interview with Brian in this week’s STAR magazine, Issue 200, where he chats about Cirque de Celebrite and also talks about his Hell’s Kitchen experience.

» Cirque- Backstage at the Big Top - Week 1. 11th October 2007

Brian’s new show Cirque- Backstage at the Big Top, a sister show to Cirque De Celebrite, got off to a flying start under the Big Top. His natural aptitude for conducting relaxing, fun interviews shone through.

He revelled in being dressed in a sparkly lycra catsuit to attempt one of the disciplines that the celebrities were practising for the coming Sunday show,- the ‘rola’. Giving a compulsory scream Brian did make a very creditable attempt to master the discipline, but the dance warm-up prior to his attempt was obviously more to his taste.

Brian’s interview with this week’s eliminated celebrity, Dean Holdsworth, changed into a surprise reinstatement for contestant due to a technical hitch in the voting system. Dean rejoined the elated group who were all overjoyed at his return.

Short chats with Shane Lynch re his fear of fire, and Lady Isabella Hervey and her rib injury made for a fast moving show with a good mixture of information, along with plenty of laughs. Include the behind the scenes practising for the Sunday show, and it makes for a must-see for all fans of the main show, but even more so for fans of Brian, as he makes the show his own.

» BRIAN DOWLING SIGNED TO FRONT CIRQUE: BACKSTAGE AT THE BIG TOP

Official Press Release

Sky One has signed Big Brother and Hell’s Kitchen star Brian Dowling to front Cirque: Backstage at the Big Top, a sister show to reality hit Cirque de Celebrité presented by Jenni Falconer. The series will launch on Thursday 11 October at 8:00pm exclusive to Sky One and Sky One HD.

Cirque: Backstage at the Big Top will feature an interview with the evicted celebrity and take viewers behind the scenes to witness all the tears and tantrums of the celebrities as they try to get to grips with circus skills that would take professionals years to master.

Brian commented: “There couldn’t be a more dramatic, colourful and glitzy show on TV, so I’m thrilled to be joining the Cirque de Celebrité team. The girls are glamorous, the boys’ outfits show off their best assets and I’ll be there to capture every little bit of action in glorious high-definition. Whilst Jenni holds the reigns on Sunday night’s live show, I’m excited to be sharing the dirt from behind-the-scenes for fans needing a mid-week fix.”

This year Cirque de Celebrité sees Kyal Marsh (Neighbours), Hannah Waterman (EastEnders), Shane Lynch (Boyzone), Stacey Cadman (Cavegirl), socialite Lady Isabella Harvey, Princess Tamara (Road Test), Olympic athlete Dwain Chambers, Antonia Okonma (Bad Girls), footballer Dean Holdsworth, Ritchie Neville (Five), Luke Bailey (Casualty) and model Emily Scott enter the Big Top on October 7 with the aim of being crowned the circus king or queen. They’ll be put through their paces on a physically demanding and emotionally draining journey under the watchful eyes of Britain’s biggest and best contemporary circus, Cirque Surreal.

In each Sunday night’s live show the celebrities battle it out with ever more daring performances, hoping to thrill the audience and win the votes of both the expert panel of judges, including Gaby Roslin, Cirque Surreal creator Phillip Gandey and choreographer Louis Spence, and the viewers at home. These combined votes determine each week’s winner – the star with the least votes will pack their bags and say goodbye to the circus.

In Cirque: Backstage at the Big Top Brian will chart the celebs’ progress in training, taking viewers behind-the-scenes to reveal the personal triumphs and showbiz rivalries as the competition heats up.

Twelve celebrities with one ambition; sensational glamour and showmanship; incredible tests of strength and fierce determination – it can only be Cirque de Celebrité.

» HELL’S KITCHEN - Brian takes the bronze medal!

After two weeks of fear, fun, fatigue, tears, trauma, stress and tutoring, Brian finished his time in Hell’s Kitchen in the very creditable bronze position. He delighted the Hell’s Kitchen diners with hundreds of mouth-watering sumptuous puddings, and became a favourite co-worker of many of the celebrity chefs.

With the trauma of the first week behind him Brian began to enjoy his time in the kitchen, winning praise for Marco Pierre White who said "I think you've come so far in such a short time that I think you're fantastic." "I think you could almost do it by yourself.". When Brian was asked if he would now continue to cook himself meals Brian said “No!” "However, I may rustle up some desserts."

Runner up place went to Adele and the Winner of Hell’s Kitchen 2007 was Barry.
